چکیده

In this paper, we address the problem of frequency estimation when multiple stationary nonsinusoidal resonances oscillate about a trend in nonuniformly sampled data when the number and shape of the resonances are unknown. To solve this problem we postulate a model that relates the resonances to the data and then apply Bayesian probability theory to derive the posterior probability for the number of resonances. The calculation is implemented using simulated annealing in a Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation to draw samples from this posterior distribution. From these samples, using Monte Carlo integration, we compute the posterior probability for the resonance frequencies given the model indicators as well as a number of other posterior distributions of interest. For a single sinusoidal resonance, the Bayesian sufficient statistic is numerically equal to the Lomb-Scargle periodogram. For a nonsinusoidal resonance this statistic is a straightforward generalization of both the discrete Fourier transform and the Lomb-Scargle periodogram. Finally, we illustrate the calculations using data taken from two different astrophysical sources.

Estimation of Parameters of Partially Sinusoidal Frequency Model

In this paper, we propose a modification of the multiple sinusoidal model such that periodic data observed with the presence of a trend component can be analyzed. In particular, we work with a linear trend model. But it can be developed similarly for the polynomial trend and the frequency model also. We consider the problem of estimation of frequency and amplitude parameters observed with a lin...

TREND-CYCLE ESTIMATION USING FUZZY TRANSFORM OF HIGHER DEGREE

In this paper, we provide theoretical justification for the application of higher degree fuzzy transform in time series analysis. Under the assumption that a time series can be additively decomposed into a trend-cycle, a seasonal component and a random noise, we demonstrate that the higher degree fuzzy transform technique can be used for the estimation of the trend-cycle, which is one of the ba...

Multi-frequency piezomagnetoelastic energy harvesting in the monostable mode

The present article investigates effects of the multi-frequency excitation on the output power of a piezomagnetoelastic energy harvester. The piezomagnetoelastic power generator is assumed to operate in the mono-stable mode. A perturbation technique based on the method of multiple scales is employed to develop an analytical solution to nonlinear differential equations governing the system dynam...

Early effect in time-dependent, high-dimensional nonlinear dynamical systems with multiple resonances.

We investigate high-dimensional nonlinear dynamical systems exhibiting multiple resonances under adiabatic parameter variations. Our motivations come from experimental considerations where time-dependent sweeping of parameters is a practical approach to probing and characterizing the bifurcations of the system. The question is whether bifurcations so detected are faithful representations of the...

Failures detection and estimation of non-stationary signals by time-scale- frequency techniques

Many recent papers deal with the improvement of tools to characterize ultrasonic signal in NonDestructive Control of materials. The spectral signature of an ultrasonic signal can be characterized by a set of ultrasonic resonances related to the material shape, size and physical properties. Many methods are used for characterizing this signature either in frequency domain or in time domain. In b...
